And my sweetie is looking at me like I've lost my mind. I actually cried a little bit when I read that Catherine Newman of Bringing Up Ben & Birdy is moving on to other things. Her kids are the same ages as mine, and her weekly column has been helping me keep things in perspective since it began 4 years ago.
Catherine is the kinder, more mindful parent that I wish I was - not to mention being honest enough to share that even she isn't always that parent. Her writing is funny and touching, and many weeks it has seemed like she was peeking into our home when she shared things about her family. I feel like she's been my secret friend for all these years. Someone who is different from the moms in my town, who would totally understand the things they find odd about me because she writes about those same things in herself.
So forgive me my tearful moment. I'm sure I'll manage, but I will certainly miss my weekly sanity check.
