It's only been since May that Kitten has been gone, and yet, how quickly we forget! Mostly, we forget how much having kitten(s) is like having a baby.
A baby with claws, and sharp little teeth . . . who can easily climb out of its crib in the night and bite your toes or stick its wet little nose in your mouth. For instance.
A baby who can jump up to the highest shelf in the house, and then cannot get down, and sets to howling piteously until you rescue him.
A baby who likes to do all these things at three in the morning, and who, when it becomes obvious that you don't want to play, will set to pushing things off your bedside table with gleeful abandon.
Until you move your toes again.
